Priyanka launches Greenathon in Agra
AGRA: Bollywood actor
Priyanka Chopra today
launched the campaign of
Greenathon, the biggest television
campaign for the environment,
on the banks of
the river Yamuna in the Taj
City.
Priyanka was seen sitting
on a bullock cart and
appeared mermerised by
the beauty of the monument
of love Taj Mahal.
The actor, who has acted in
fi lms like Saat Khoon Maaf
and Mujhse Shadi Karoge,
was joined by actor and
Green Runner Milind Soman,
NDTV’s Group CEO
Vikram Chandra and Abhishek
Mishra, Minister
of State for Protocol, UP
among others on the site for
a clean up drive.
The city of Agra is infamous
for its water pollution
and toxic waste which is
being discharged on a daily
basis. To create more awareness
of these issues Priyanka
and local school children,
along with concerned citizens
of Agra, participated
in a clean-up drive to spread
the green message.
Launched in April 2008,
the NDTV-Toyota Green
campaign is India’s fi rst ever-
nationwide campaign to
save the environment.
The campaign is aimed
at creating awareness about
environmental issues by involving
the people of India
to make a difference. The
campaign is supported by
TERI and the Union Environment,
ministry.
