‘Blood Money’ fi rst weekend collection 6 Cr, budget of movie 4 Cr: Mahesh Bhatt
NEW DELHI: Ecstatic over
the success of their latest
fi lm ‘blood money’, fi lmmaker
Mahesh Bhatt has
said that it was the marriage
between crisp content and
brilliant marketing that contributed
to the success of the
movie.
“It was the marriage between
crisp content and brilliant
marketing that helped
us to attain success at the
box offi ce of our fi lm,” Mahesh
Bhatt said about ‘Blood
Money’ which earned collections
of over Rs 6 crore in
its fi rst weekend itself, thus
earning profi t as the budget
of the movie was Rs 4 crore.

not get excited on budgets
and make our fi lms in costeffective
manner, that is the
DNA of our company and
co-producers Viacom 18
Motion Pictures understood
the content well and marketed
it equally interestingly
and effectively, from the
music launch on a yacht, to
focused promotions of the
movie in b-towns and smaller
markets, highlighted the
fact that they had the same
persistence and passion for
the fi lm as ours,” Bhatt said
in the wake of the fi lm’s encouraging
show at the box
offi ce.
To celebrate the success
of the fi lm, which deals with
the diamond mafi a and their
links with the underworld,
Bhatt threw a success party
this weekend.
In a tweet, Bhatt said,
“Those in the trade who
wrote its obituary on the day
of release must concede that
they were wrong.” ‘Blood
Money’, which hit cinema
screens March 30, had collections
of Rs 5.68 crore
over the fi rst weekend, with
Monday to Thursday accounting
for another Rs 3
crore net.
In Overseas, the fi lm collected
Rs 45 Lakh on the
opening weekend. Talking
about the success of the fi lm,
Bhatt said,” The balance
sheet of the fi lm signifi es
its success in itself, a movie
made in a tight budget of Rs
4 crore has made Rs 6 crore
in its opening weekend and
add-on of another Rs 6 crore
for satellite and music.”
