NFDC to launch heritage super-hit blockbuster movies
KURUSETRA: The National
Film Development
Corporation (NFDC) plans
to launch a National Film
Heritage Mission with a
view to conserving superhit
blockbuster movies of
the past 100 years of Indian
cinema.
Besides, a digital heritage
lab is also proposed to be set
up to make them accessible
to masses.
This was stated by NFDC
Managing Director Neena
Laat Gupta while speaking
at the Media International
Film Festival organised by
the Institute of Mass Communication
and Media
Technology at Kurukshetra
University in Kurukshetra
today. There is also a plan to
set up fi lm clubs in universities
and colleges.
She laid stress on promotion
of movies in regional
languages like Malyalam,
Kannad, Tamil and others.
Lauding the idea of holding
fi lm festivals in small
towns like Kurukshetra, she
said that it was only through
such festivals that the youth
got to know about the glorifying
history of Indian cinema.
Speaking on the occasion,
Udyan Prasad, a noted fi lm
director from England, said
that the 100-year-old history
of Indian cinema showed
that very few movies were
based on rural areas.
Films offered a global
means of cultural exchange
between different countries.
The future of Indian cinema
was dependent on the youth
of the country, he added.
